Types of Pollution:

Pollution has accompanied man since the beginning. It is not at all new but as time passes by, it increases due to more and more people and misuse- of technology. There are four types of pollution:

AIR POLLUTION:

Contamination of the earth's atmosphere is known as air pollution. There are some gases, which are harmful to the atmosphere. The main sources of these gases are vehicle exhausts, industrial smoke, fire extinguishers, refrigerants, pesticides and the burning of fuel, plastic and rubber. Automobiles i.e. cars, buses, rickshaws, trucks, scooters and motorcycles and industries like thermal power plants, cement, steel, refineries etc. are the chief contributors to air pollution. No doubt, air pollution affects human health and causes many dangerous diseases. One of the greatest challenges caused by air pollution is 'Global Warming. It is an increase in the earth's temperature. Most pollutant gases can trap the rays of the sun and reflect on the earth's atmosphere. This causes an increase in the earth's temperature. Carbon dioxide is the most harmful gas in this case. If the level of these gases is not controlled, the temperature of the earth will rise, causing severe problems. The sea level will rise due to the melting of glaciers, damaging the coastal areas. Increased melting of glaciers would result in serious water shortage in future. Another effect on the environment is Ozone Shield Destruction. The presence of ozone absorbs the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. it acts as a filter for the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. The gases, which contain chlorine, attack the ozone shield. The destruction of the ozone shield will cause UV rays to penetrate the atmosphere. It will cause skin cancer and the destruction of plants and animals.

Water pollution:

Water pollution is said to occur when toxic pollutants and particulate matter are introduced into water bodies such as lakes, rivers and seas. Their contaminants are generally introduced by human activities like improper sewage treatment and oil spills. Soil Pollution:

Land pollution depicts soil due to the presence of toxic substances such as excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides, deforestation, industrial waste etc.

Noise Pollution:

Noise pollution is dangerous to life. it is said that 85 decibels cause deafness and other diseases. The common reason behind noise pollution is the round that comes from industries, planes and other sources that reach beyond permissible limits.

How to reduce Pollution:

Pollution is a global problem. It is the collective Issue and thereby, it needs a collective approach to end it. We should focus on going green, planting more trees, and eliminating waste in nature, we need to save agriculture. We should stop using excessive chemicals in agriculture to save water from being polluted. The world should not only look at the industry. Along with it, we need to strike a balance between industrial progress and the preservation of nature. The role of government, mass media and civil society is necessary.
